2026 UTME: JAMB Tightens Accreditation Rules Nationwide

By MELVIN KOFFA
THE Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has begun accrediting 1,039 CBT centres nationwide in preparation for the 2026 UTME. Registrar Prof. Is’haq Oloyede made this known in Ilorin, noting that the exercise is aimed at enforcing compliance and eliminating malpractice.
He said 52 accreditation teams are currently inspecting centres, warning that approval from previous years does not confer automatic eligibility. Oloyede disclosed that some centres previously involved in malpractice had attempted to return under different identities.
To address this, he said JAMB now has access to directors’ records through the Corporate Affairs Commission, making it impossible for blacklisted operators to resurface. He added that implicated staff and proctors have been barred, while computers from delisted centres have been permanently removed from the JAMB system.
Oloyede said security agencies are investigating detected infractions, stressing that examination malpractice is a serious legal offence.
