Oborevwori Reaffirms Commitment To Literary Advancement At Lagos Book Presentation
DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has restated his administration’s commitment to promoting literary excellence and strengthening platforms that advance intellectual growth across the country.
Represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari, the governor said his administration will continue to support initiatives that celebrate creativity, scholarship, and national development.
Speaking at the public presentation of Hallmarks of Labour, authored by Izoma Philip Chikwuendo Asiodu, Governor Oborevwori noted that literature remains a powerful tool for shaping societal values and inspiring younger generations. He added that Delta State is proud to align with programmes that honour individuals whose contributions strengthen national progress through the written word.
Prof. Tonukari, who delivered the governor’s goodwill message, praised Asiodu’s distinguished career and literary impact. He described the new book as a compelling affirmation of the virtues of hard work, dedication, and integrity—qualities he said are essential for building a better society. He also urged emerging writers to remain committed to excellence in their craft.
The event, held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Metropolitan Club, Victoria Island, Lagos, attracted prominent Nigerians and literary enthusiasts, including former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.), who chaired the occasion.
Speakers at the gathering reflected on the book’s central themes, highlighting the author’s emphasis on values that underpin meaningful achievement, responsible leadership, and national development.
