105 Students Benefit As Christ Missionaries Crusaders Church Launches Bursary Scheme

Church Launches Education Support Initiative
THE Archbishop of Christ Missionaries Crusaders Church, Goddowell Avwomakpa, has awarded bursary support to 105 students of the church currently studying in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The presentation, which marked the official launch of the church’s bursary scheme, took place on 8 March 2026, at the church’s International Headquarters in Warri.
Each beneficiary received ₦30,000 as financial assistance aimed at supporting their academic pursuits.
Response to Economic Hardship
Speaking at the ceremony, Archbishop Avwomakpa explained that the initiative was introduced to ease the financial burden faced by students and their parents amid prevailing economic challenges.
He noted that many families are struggling to meet the rising cost of education, adding that the church decided to intervene by providing modest financial relief to its members pursuing higher education.
According to him, the bursary programme reflects the church’s commitment to supporting the welfare and development of its members.
“We believe education is a vital tool for empowerment and development. By supporting these students, we are investing in their future and the future of society,” he said.
The Archbishop further emphasised that the church would continue to explore ways of supporting members not only spiritually but also socially and economically.
National Combined Service Activities
The bursary presentation formed part of activities marking the church’s National Combined Service, which was held simultaneously across all district headquarters of Christ Missionaries Crusaders Church.
During the service, Archbishop Avwomakpa delivered a sermon titled “Passion for Souls,” in which he urged members to remain committed to evangelism and the spiritual growth of others.
Drawing inspiration from passages in the Bible, particularly Mark 1:38 and Mark 16:15, he reminded congregants that the primary mission of the church is soul-winning and service to humanity.
He added that while spiritual development remains central to the church’s mission, supporting members in practical ways—such as through educational assistance—was equally important.
Announcement of National Crusade
The Archbishop also used the occasion to announce the church’s upcoming National Crusade scheduled to take place in Obiaruku from 27 to 29 March 2026.
He encouraged members and the general public to participate in the programme, which he said would focus on spiritual renewal and evangelism.
Beneficiaries Express Appreciation
Several beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Archbishop Avwomakpa for the bursary support, describing it as a timely intervention.
Among the beneficiaries were Umunu Oghenefejiro Deborah of Delta State University, Abraka; Ejairu Clemetina; Agision Great of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun; Ukpebor Naomi Pleasant of College of Education, Warri; as well as Maika Gabriella and Okoro Great Edesiri of Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun.
They said the financial support would assist them in meeting academic needs such as books, transportation, and other study-related expenses.
The students pledged to remain dedicated to their studies and strive for academic excellence in order to make the church proud.
